The Törkmar solar dump function which previously ran on the Exor narrowboat displays is now available in the Victron Node-RED implementation on the Cerbo GX and Ekrano. This supports all the features of the prior implementation as well as some requested enhancements, the main features in this version (1.1) are:
- Turn on the water heater relay when the battery is full and there is spare solar capacity
- Turn off the water heater relay when the battery or spare solar capacity falls below a threshold
- Disable the solar dump function when the generator is running or shore-power connected
Note that (per the prior implementation) for safety reasons this will not autonomously turn on the 240V AC inverter. A future release of the vessel display software is already under development that provides a user interface to edit the various thresholds and parameters.
This requires a 24V relay controlled immersion water heater on the boat that meets all relevant safety standards. The release is available from Törkmar or the boat builder and must be installed using a computer connected to the GX device.
