How to apply Beko Tackcon Primer on UPVC strips
Applying a primer to uPVC is a crucial step for a durable and long-lasting finish, as its smooth, non-porous surface makes it difficult for paint or other coatings to bond properly. Priming ensures proper adhesion and helps prevent peeling or poor durability down the line.
Preparation
Lightly sand or ‘key’ the surface with fine-grit sandpaper to create a rougher texture, helping the primer and paint to stick better.
Application
After cleaning and prepping, apply a single, even coat of the primer. Use a good-quality brush for detailed areas or a mini roller for larger, flat surfaces. To avoid drips and runs, do not overload the brush with primer. Stir the primer thoroughly before use to ensure a consistent colour and consistency.
Drying
The primer will feel dry to the touch fairly quickly, but this does not mean it is ready for a topcoat. You should always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for drying and curing times to avoid compromising the final finish.
